WTPA Instructor Insurance Options
If you are teaching publicly, part of the risk management is to have insurance. The information presented below is for the interest of Instructors & Schools.
Remember that all insurers require you to comply with their specified conditions. If you are non-compliant, you may not be protected even if you have paid your premium.
The following information is provided by WTPA to assist you in making your own decision about whether a particular insurance policy meets your requirements.

WTPA Proposed New Group Martial Arts Insurance Package
WTPA is excited to advise practitioners of our proposed new group martial arts insurance package which will especially appeal to the smaller schools (10 student minimum) as well as the larger ones. We know that a number of clubs do operate without insurance because they have found it to be too expensive, so we have endeavoured to find a package that is affordable for everyone.
Specialised sports insurance including all operations of a martial arts school is hard to find at the best of times but especially when you want it at the best price. However, we feel extremely confident knowing that this policy is through Sportscover (the longest standing martial arts insurer) and administered through martial arts and insurance expert Graham Slater AFSAR: 419921. WTPA can send out the forms and obtain a quotation for you, and Graham is authorised to discuss the policy wording with you if required, (full policy wording, PDS and FSG are also available).
Scope of cover:
10 million Public Liability & 5 million Professional Indemnity. Whether you are training in a hall, on the beach, in a park or doing a demonstration in a shopping centre it is all covered under this policy.
Covers Tai Chi, Wushu, Push Hands & Martial Application practise.
Pricing
WTPA has an exclusive pricing package that offers further benefits. The more practitioners / clubs we have in this group deal the lower the price becomes.

15 club members $185.00 p.a.
75 club members $425.00 p.a.
150 club members $725.00 p.a.

Tai Chi as a "Complementary and Alternative Medicine".
WTPA members who teach Tai Chi as a health-promotion activity may choose to be insured through OAMPS Insurance Brokers Limited under their "Complementary and Alternative Medicine Scheme", i.e. for "non-contact" Tai Chi.
WTPA is accredited with OAMPS as an approved Association to allow members to be covered for non-contact Tai Chi and Qigong.
You are not required to provide specific details of qualifications – membership of WTPA as an instructor is sufficient.
This means that a member taking out cover under this agreement must retain current membership of WTPA for insurance cover to remain valid.
